About

Our Mission

Pigeon River offers a challenging curriculum, working in partnership with families to ensure academic success and develop lifelong learning skills in all students. The integration of technology, combined with a respectful, responsible, and safe learning environment, all contribute to Pigeon River's strong academic community, which is geared toward meeting the needs of 21st-century learners.

The Pigeon River campus is a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat. Students can learn in the fresh air in the school’s outdoor classroom, take a hike through the woods, or discover nature in one of the large garden areas.

Pigeon River Elementary School is conveniently located adjacent to the Pigeon River Recreation Center, which offers before- and after-school childcare.

PBIS

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It is dedicated to teaching and encouraging safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors. We celebrate students for making positive choices that align with our school expectations. When a student needs assistance in meeting these expectations, we provide guidance to help them learn the appropriate behavior. If necessary, an Office Discipline Referral (ODR) may be issued, but our primary goal is to support each student's growth.

Achievement Gap Reduction

The Achievement Gap Reduction (AGR) program, established by the Wisconsin State Legislature in 2015, is an initiative to close achievement gaps and foster student success. Schools participating in AGR have the opportunity to implement one of three effective strategies:

  • Reducing Class Sizes: This approach allows for more individualized attention, ensuring that each student feels supported and engaged.

  • Providing Instructional Coaching for Teachers: By enhancing data-driven practices through coaching, teachers can deliver even more effective instruction and support for their students.

  • Offering One-to-One or Small-Group Tutoring: This targeted support helps students receive the personalized assistance they need to excel academically.
